US Airways finally releases application, for Android

usair-1-copyUS Airways has embraced the mobile era today by releasing an application at last! For Android…wait, what?

Usually these days, more often than not applications tend to land on iOS before they do on Android as iOS tends to be the more lucrative market in terms of revenue and user base.

However US Airways has decided to go in the other direction and release onto Android first going against the grain of what other popular apps have done such as Instagram, Vine and others.

iOS users have had to and will still have to access their tickets for their flight through passbook, they will not get access to any of the features that come with the Android application.

The app does everything you would expect it to do and need it to do such as viewing tickets, accessing your Dividends mile account, itineraries and flight updates and statuses.

The airline’s long-delayed app was initially promised for late 2012 but later delayed to sometime in 2013, which doesn’t bode well for iPhone owners. Earlier this year a customer satisfaction survey of the top airlines mobile apps ranked US Airways in dead last, which makes sense since the company didn’t have an app at the time, while Southwest came out on top with an 82 out of 100 possible points.

What do you guys think? Do you fly US Airways? Is this something you would use? Let us know in the comments below.

The 50 shades effect? Fire Brigade warns people to be cautious

SEX TOYSBONDAGE EQUIPMENT ON SALE AT AN ANN SUMMERS SEX SHOP.H

LONDON – It’s possible that part of the reason for this piece could be as a result of the ’50 shades of grey effect’ however LFB (London Fire Brigade) are warning frisky couples to take caution in the bedroom in order to save themselves unnecessary embarrassment.

Horny couples getting stuck in objects such as handcuffs has risen dramatically over the past three years according to the LFB and they are suggesting that those who decide to engage in such activities in the bedroom should keep the “keys close to hand” in order to avoid having to place a 999 call.

They have been called to 79 incidents in the past three years of people misplacing their keys and therefore being unable to release themselves from the restraints when all the fun is over.

Firefighter Dave Brown said: ‘I don’t know whether it’s the Fifty Shades of Grey effect, but the number of incidents involving items like handcuffs seems to have gone up.

‘I’m sure most people will be Fifty Shades of red when our crews arrive.’

The LFB tweeted their unusual incidents the other day in an article with the hash tag, #50shadesofred

As if that was not enough the LFB also has to contend with people deciding to stick their private parts into what are the most unusual of objects only to find that they get stuck.

This includes men who had their penis caught in toasters and vacuums among other objects.

Worried parents were also the source of a number of calls regarding children who had got their heads caught in training potties or toilet seats.

Although some of the incidents may seem amusing, officer Brown stressed the importance of using resources correctly after the fire service revealed the bill for the strange calls came up to £377,000.

He added: ‘I’d like to remind everyone that 999 is an emergency number and should only be used as such.

‘When firefighters are out attending to some of these avoidable incidents, someone else could be in real need of emergency assistance.’

What do you guys think about this? Would you always keep the keys nearby? Let us know down in the comment section below.

Guy pees on a cop and x-ray machine

s-RAYMOND-LAWHORN-largeGAINESVILLE – The quickest way to piss off a cop should you so choose to do it? Probably just to piss on one. Police in Gainesville state that a man was arrested for driving without a licence and then proceeded to pee both on the x-ray machine and also a cop at the local jail.

Raymond Lawhorn who is 34 years old was pulled over at 10:30pm on Sunday after cops state that he drove into a police land cruiser. He then told cops that he had no drivers licence.

He was taken to Alachua County Jail where officers state that he proceeded to urinate onto the x-ray machine and consequently the officer who was next to the x-ray machine at the time.

Lawhorn was charged with battering detention facility staff, resisting an officer without violence and driving on a permanently-revoked license.

Things can always be worse though, in March of this year a drunken student on spring break told a cop, “I will piss in your car” and then followed through on his promise by pissing all over the interior of the car and also on the cop’s lunch.

What do you guys think about this? Can you believe someone would do such a thing? Has it truly got disgusting with the behaviour cops have to deal with while working? Let us know in the comments down below.

Even thiefs can’t resist a good selfie

ay_115023280-e1374846546136Two suspected teenage thiefs may have incriminated themselves after they snapped a selfie of themselves wearing balaclavas and holding a knife.

Swedish police probably couldn’t believe their luck when they found the snaps of the girls on their phones, which were apparently taken just before the crime occurred.

One of the suspects can be seen holding a large kitchen knife, which is similar to the one described as being used in the robbery at the hamburger restaurant in Halmstad.

Around £240 was taken during the raid after the restaurant chef was threatened with the weapon, the Local reported.

Police arrested the two cousins after tracing them back to their grandparent’s residence using sniffer dogs.

While carrying out a search authorities found a bag that contained a knife and balaclavas.

They later retrieved the phone containing the incriminating photos.

It later emerged one of the suspects was too young to be charged but the other 17-year-old girl will face trial.

What do you guys think about this? Can you believe they would be silly enough to snap a selfie just before committing a crime? Let us know in the comments below.

Is this the new internet craze to grip the world?

slide_310042_2745620_freePlanking, Tebowing, Owling…All of these at one point have been internet memes that have been adopted and gone viral in society. Or who can forget the Harlem Shake sensation that went around earlier this year? Well now there is another geeky trend emerging from the internet known as ‘unicorning.’

Basically it involves people wearing rubber unicorn masks in public places for photographs. The more weird that the setting looks the better. The meme started appearing in public late last year when director Laura DeMerchant bought unicorn masks for her friends and asked them to wear the masks for photos. “I put it on when a pizza delivery guy was at the door and his expression was priceless,” she explained. “It’s such a goofy creepy thing. Especially if you wear one to Costco to get free samples.”

She has since then amassed hundreds of photos at her website, UnicornArmy.com and the meme is now coming into a more public domain setting as to what it had been before.

In fact, not so long ago her friend, porn star Andy San Dimas was thrown out of a baseball game recently when she blocked an aisle while dancing with a rubber unicorn mask on.

Although she was embarrassed about the incident, especially after a member of the Pittsburgh Police Dept. got in trouble for posing in a picture wearing the mask, San Dimas is fond of “unicorning” as a past time.

“I think it’s the new ‘planking,'” she told The Huffington Post. “And I think it’s safer. I heard someone died while planking. Unicorning is not as dangerous — just to a police officer’s career.”

DeMerchant said the photos of San Dimas and the cop wearing the mask have helped “unicorning” catch on.

“My Unicorn Army Instagram page got 30 followers in one hour,” she said.

She is confident that as people see the photos, they will become unofficial soldiers in her “Unicorn Army,” but warns potential members not to take it too far.

“We had people wear the masks in a swimming pool once and they freaked out after the masks filled up with water,” she said.

What do you guys think about this? Are you going to try unicorning? Or do you think this is just another stupid internet sensation that will fizzle out after a while? Let us know in the comments below.

Chromecast – the cheap and possibly better alternative to Apple TV?

google-chromecast-9803_1_610x407

When it comes to its ambitions for television, Google’s hoping that the third time’s the charm.

The other day the company unveiled Chromecast. Google’s latest foray into the television is a low-cost stick that plugs into a HDMI input to let a wide swath of smartphones, tablets, and devices using the Chrome browser seamlessly fling what they’re playing onto the TV.

Google argues that it is solving a unique problem, but it really isn’t. In fact, a myriad of devices already exist to do just that. But by coming out with a cheaper, more innovative offering, Google fired its loudest shot across the bow of Apple TV and all of the other streaming TV peripherals with the Chromecast. And at $35, it claims to have a winner.

The television is “the most immersive experience in the house,” said Sundar Pichai, Google’s head of Android, Chrome, and apps at the breakfast unveiling Wednesday in San Francisco. He noted more than 200 billion online videos are watched globally by users every month, and Netflix and YouTube combined represent nearly half of peak downstream Internet traffic in North America.

“It’s very difficult to get your online media onto your television in your house,” said Pichai.

True enough. It has been difficult, but largely only for Google.

Apple sold 5.3 million of the $99 Apple TVs in the last year, and it has become the most popular way consumers are employing the AirPlay wireless streaming feature that Chromecast replicates. Roku in April said had it sold 5 million of its boxes since it launched its first player in 2008. It also touted 8 billion streams of video and music and more than 750 channels.

Google may be entering the market late but they could still be able to grab a nice piece of the pie for themselves none the less.

Chromecast does feature clear advantages. At $35, it’s cheaper than the $99 Apple TV and even Roku, which can be had for about $50. It’s compatible with nearly any device without taking up shelf space under the TV.

However, it doesn’t bode well that Google TV has been blocked by outside video services like Hulu and major content providers like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and Comedy Central in the past.

One thing clearly bodes well for Chromecast’s potential as a blockbuster, despite the questions hovering over it: immediate demand. Within an hour of its unveiling, initial orders of Chromecast in Google’s online store were gone, listed instead as “coming soon.” Amazon lists Chromecast as back ordered up to a month, and Google’s ship time is is next month.

If that means the rest of the world has to wait to buy Chromecast, it will buy Google some time to answer some questions that the rest of the online world and waiting to hear the answers to.

What do you guys think about this? Are you going to be buying Chromecast? Do you have an Apple TV or Roku already to do the job for you? Let us know in the comments below.

Is there a ghost chucking tea bags around a shop in Kent?

KENT – Below is a clip of CCTV footage from a shop in Kent, UK where a possible ghost seems to be playing with teabags as they are seen floating through the air before being thrown to the floor.

The grey haired male customer seems to be oblivious to anything out of the ordinary happening and simply picks up and replaces the tea bags to the shelf, clearly thinking nothing more of the incident.

Shopkeeper Michelle Newbold said the footage, uploaded onto YouTube last week, was ‘a complete mystery’.

‘I was perplexed I suppose,’ she told Kent Online.

‘I just couldn’t believe it. I have no idea about how it has happened.

‘I have never seen anything like it since I’ve been running the shop. The customer never said anything and I don’t even know who it was.’

gh6

I review the CCTV about once a week and that’s when I came across it,’ she explained.

‘We check sometimes if we think something is suspicious or if a dodgy character is in the shop.

‘I’d be interested to find out more if anyone knows anything because I have no clue. I have never seen anything like this since I have been in the shop.

‘I don’t believe in ghosts and this hasn’t changed anything.’

The clip has racked up almost 10,000 hits in just a matter of days.

What do you guys think of this? Are you convinced by the clip? Or is it just someone playing a prank? Let us know in the comments below.

Attack of the roaming cats in France

s-CAT-ATTACK-largeFRANCE – Kittens, they are cute and cuddly little balls of fluff that love to play and constantly seek attention. Then they grow into cats which are generally heartless and are not keen on human contact preferring to spend the day outside – boring animals.

So little do we know what kind of mischief is stirring in those cold lonely eyes, well one pet owner in France found out recently when she was attacked while walking her dog on Sunday evening by six cats.

The woman, who is 31 years old, sustained injuries to her arms and legs one of which included a nicked artery. The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic for further treatment.

The local vet described the attack as ‘abnormal behaviour’ and was unable to offer an explanation as to why the cats had acted so aggressively towards the lady who was walking her dog.

Cats do not usually attack so savagely however they are known to strike out against perceived threats.

Im a dog lover myself, so this is just another reason to hate cats.

What do you guys think about this? What would you do if you were attacked by a bunch of random cats? Is there anything you could do? Let us know in the comments below.

iPhone sales surging according to Apple financial reports

_68737666_chinaApple said it sold 31.2 million iPhones, a record for the June quarter, compared to 26 million last year.

But profit was down 22% from the same period a year earlier as its profit margins shrank to 36.98% from 42.8%.

However, average sale prices were lower at $581, compared with $608 a year ago.

Its revenue was also better than expected, with the company earning $35.3bn, although that was barely above the $35bn of a year ago.

Analysts said the data, especially on iPhone sales, may help allay some fears of a slowdown in Apple’s growth rate.

“The iPhone number should provide some comfort to investors who were worried about smartphone demand,” said Shannon Cross of Cross Research.

“That’s one of the reasons the stock is up. Expectations were not strong for this quarter.”

According to its latest numbers, Apple’s sales in China were also down by 4% in the April to June period.

Research firm IDC has estimated that 66% of the 385 million smartphones sold in China next year will cost less than $200 – significantly less than the cost of Apple’s iPhone.

That has led some investors to fear that Apple may have to cut the price of its products in an attempt to attract customers.

At the same time, sales of its the iPad tablet computer, fell by 14% to 14.6 million units, compared with 17 million a year ago.

For his part, Apple’s boss. Tim Cook, said that the company was going to introduce new products soon.

“We are laser-focused and working hard on some amazing new products that we will introduce in the fall [autumn] and across 2014,” he said.

What do you guys think on this? Will it be another great financial year for Apple? What new devices might they come out with this year? Let us know in the comments below.
